Privacy at ChantWise

ChantWise is for chanting together. We keep as little as we can, we don't sell anything about you, and we don't run ads or ad trackers. This page says plainly what we keep and why.
Chanting without an account
You can chant, lead a room and join one without giving us your name or email. The texts you finish are saved on your phone, in your browser, so the app can show your practice. They stay on your phone unless you sign in.
If you sign in
Signing in is optional. If you do, we keep:
- Your email, to send your sign-in code.
- Your first name, if you give one.
- Your time zone, so "today" is right for your streak.
- An approximate place (country, state, city) worked out from your connection when you first sign in. You can change it. We never store your IP address, your exact location or your phone number.
- Your readings: which texts you finished, and when.
Because the texts are devotional, your reading history can show your religious practice. That's why we ask for your consent before saving it, with the box on the sign-in screen.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies. The app sets one cookie only when you sign in, to keep you signed in. It lasts 30 days and renews while you use the app. Signing out removes it.
How we count visits
On chantwise.com we use Fathom, which counts visits and clicks without cookies and without identifying you. In the app we count things like rooms started and texts finished, without names or emails. Detailed records are deleted after 30 days; after that we keep only daily totals.
When you write to us
If you use the form to bring ChantWise to your temple or satsang, your name, email and message come to our team by email so we can reply.
Paying for a plan
Stripe is our payment processor for paid plans. Stripe takes your card details; we never see your full card number. We keep your name, your email, the plan you bought and the dates you paid.
If you buy from outside the UK, you buy from Sold through Link, LLC, a Stripe company, shown at checkout as "Sold through Onelink". It receives your payment and billing details and acts as the seller for that payment.
Keeping accounts safe
Each account is for one person. We may use sign-in and usage records, such as when and on how many devices an account is signed in, to spot misuse, like an account being shared or plan limits being got around. We use these records only to keep ChantWise fair and secure.
Who helps us run it
Cloudflare hosts this website and carries traffic to the app. Resend sends sign-in codes and form emails. Fathom counts website visits. Stripe takes payments for paid plans. The app itself runs on a server we manage. These services handle data only to do these jobs for us.
Deleting your data
Delete your account any time from Your practice in the app. That removes your email, profile and reading history from our servers; backup copies are overwritten over time. Signing out clears the readings saved on that phone. You can also email us from the address you sign in with, and we delete your account within 30 days. If you paid for a plan, we keep the payment records (amounts, dates and invoices) for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
