Gujarati love for Krishna runs deep: at Dwarka, Krishna's own city on the western sea, and in the Shrinathji devotion dear to countless Gujarati families. The Krishna Ashtottara, the hundred and eight names, comes from the Narada Pancharatra, a garland holding the whole of Krishna's story, one name at a time, and among Gujaratis it is carried by movements like ISKCON and the Chinmaya Mission. People chant the names for peace, for protection, for wellbeing, and out of love for the cowherd god.
