Around the world, and in Malayalam
Venkateswara of Tirumala, the Lord of the seven hills, is loved in Kerala too, and the Venkatesha Stotram sings his praise. The verses come from the Brahmanda Purana, from the greatness of the Venkata mountain told by Brahma to Narada. Malayalam devotees chant them on Saturdays, the Lord's own day, and as a daily refuge, for protection, for relief from worry, and out of love for Srinivasa. Known also as Balaji, he is worshipped by millions, at Tirumala and in Balaji temples across the world. Here the same verses are set in the Malayalam script, which carries every Sanskrit sound, so they transfer letter for letter for anyone who reads Malayalam.
